Attempted Murder Charges For Maryland Man Who Shot Roommate Over Living Conditions: Police

Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred between two roommates in Columbia, authorities say.

The incident happened in the 8400 block of Oak Bush Terrace in Columbia (Howard County).

The shooting occurred in the 8400 block of Oak Bush Terrace around 7:45 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 2, according to Howard County police investigators.

Matthew Ng, 49, was allegedly shot by his roommate Zongping Zhang, 55, over ongoing disputes about living conditions between the two.

Ng was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.

Zhang is charged with attempted first-degree and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and a weapon violation. 

He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
